Considering the gloom surrounding the outlook for M&A activity that has prevailed of late, this week has seen some blockbusters! In China, Coca Cola's US$2.3bn bid for Huiyan Juice Group would not only be the US giant's second biggest foreign acquisition, but also the largest takeover of a Chinese company on record. So too is a consortium of US private equity firms pushing on with its multi-billion dollar bid for British publishing group Informa. If successful, this would be the biggest private equity buy-out since capital markets dried up last year, begging the question has the deal market bottomed out?
