Private real estate firm The Kolter Group said on August 26 that it had signed an agreement with a unit of leading alternative-asset hedge fund Och-Ziff Capital Management Group to form a joint venture (JV) aimed at the purchase of real-estate assets in the southeast United States. Kolter said the JV would invest as much as US$1bn in assets ranging from raw land to existing condominiums, as well looking to acquire equity and debt interests in existing residential properties. For Kolter, the deal will be part of its larger plan to expand outside the southeast.
