An affiliate of Golden Gate Capital, MAC Acquisition, has agreed to purchase a majority stake in Romano's Macaroni Grill from Brinker International. The San Francisco-based private equity firm will pay US$131.5mn in cash, US$6mn of which will be invested into MAC Acquisition. Brinker, which also owns family restaurants Chili's Grill & Bar, On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina and Maggiano's Little Italy, will still hold a 19.9% stake in the restaurant. Darren Tristano, executive vice president at food industry consultancy Technomic, told CFW that the deal makes sense as 'it not only provides greater focus on the remaining brands
