Bangalore-headquartered global infrastructure group GMR Infrastructure has bought a 50% stake in Amsterdam-based power generation firm InterGen N.V from AIG Highstar for US$1.1bn in equity, and US$4.3bn in debt. At a time when CFW has noted that investment in Indian infrastructure has become a key growth area for global investors, this deal will represent the largest ever acquisition of a global utility firm by an Indian company.
