New York-based fertilizer and oilseed conglomerate Bunge Ltd has agreed to pay US$4.8bn in stock for Corn Products International, in a deal that will combine two of the US's oldest agriculture firms. Bunge Ltd is a leading global soybean exporter, as well as providing food processing, grain trading, and fertilizers. It is the third largest agri-business in the US after Cargill and Archer Daniels.
