Facing severe financial difficulty, Ukraine's state oil company Naftogaz on June 9 sent proposals to a range of banks a US$2bn loan, which will be used to fiannce the purchase of natural gas. Spokesman Valentyn Zemalyansky confirmed that 'we have sent invitations to 24 banks'.
