The US$3.19bn bid by private equity firms Candover, Goldman Sachs Capital Parterns and AlpInvest Partners for UK's Expro is yet another in the chain of private equity investments into the oil and gas sector in recent months. Expro, which has a market capitalisation of around GBP1.46bn, agreed to the bid on April 17, but speculation that the oil services company is in talks with other potential investors has sent their stock price up nearly 11% to GBP14.62, above the offer price.
