Japan's largest drug maker by revenue, Takeda Pharmaceuticals, has agreed to pay US$8.8bn for US drug maker Millennium Pharmaceuticals in the largest transaction involving a Japanese company this year. The purchase gives Takeda an entry into the lucrative and growing cancer medicine industry. The company will pay US$25 per share, a 68% premium on the 30-day average of Millennium's share price.
