We keep harping on about the resilience of emerging market (EM) economies during these troubled times for developed states. Whilst of course they are not immune from the ongoing economic slowdown in the Western world, and in fact we at Business Monitor have lowered our 2008 real GDP growth forecasts for many EM countries compared to 2007, economic activity in EM is still robust. One amazing example of greater insulation to external threats comes from Mexico, whose economy and financial markets traditionally mirror US movements.
