Brazilian meat company JBS announced on March 4 that it will buy two US companies, National Beef Packing and the beef unit of Smithfield Foods, and the Australian beef company Tasman Group. The deal, worth US$1.26bn if approved, will make JBS Swift the US's largest beef producer.
