Unipharm, Sopharma Merger Receives Approval

A merger of pharmaceutical manufacturer Unipharm and Bulgarian drug distributor Sopharma has received approval from the Commission for Competition Protection of Bulgaria. The deal will take place in the long term and will not effect immediate changes at the two companies. Sopharma held a nearly 50% stake in Unipharm at the end of Q310, compared with below 6% at the beginning of 2009.
