Tesco Acquires Czech Republic Retail Network, Seen As Possible Prelude To Acquisition In Poland
December 2010 | M&A AnalysisUK-based retail giant Tesco has paid CZK1.2bn (US$62.1mn) to acquire the Zabka and Koruna retail networks in the Czech Republic. Tesco has said that the units will help expedite the roll out of its Express stores in the country and has highlighted the improvement in range and price that it can bring to the newly acquired stores thanks to its additional scale. Slovakian financial group Penta Investment sold the assets and is also currently mulling the sale of its Zabka stores in Poland.
