SABMiller Eyeing African Partner Castel's Beer Business

SABMiller is reportedly in negotiations to acquire the Les Brasseries & Glaceries Internationales (BGI) African beer business of the privately owned France-based Castel Group for about US$9.5bn, although the latter has denied this. Also strongly linked with the beer business of Foster's, SABMiller is widely expected to close at least one large acquisition over the next 12 months having largely sat out the consolidation that has taken place in the global beer industry over the past few years.
