PE Renaissance Fuelling Broader M&A Activity

Private equity (PE) has moved under the corporate financing spotlight once again as it proves its strength again the broader global macroeconomic deterioration. Significantly, not only are PE buyouts increasing in number, but they are also becoming larger in value. Whether the buyout industry gathering steam will serve as a leading indicator of things to come for the broader global economy remains to be seen, but the fact we have seen 188 deals valued at over US$1bn so far in 2010 (according to Bloomberg) certainly bodes well.
