Against All Odds: A Sprint Nextel-T-Mobile Tie Up?

The announcement that Sprint Nextel may be considering adding LTE has led to some speculation of a merger with fourth-ranked T-Mobile USA. With the memories and long-term effects of Sprint's unsuccessful merger with Nextel in 2005 still fresh in the minds of the company and its customers, it seems extremely unlikely that Sprint Nextel would jump into another merger with a company whose network runs on a different technology. While both may be looking to LTE in the future, BMI's telecoms team does not see a merger on the cards any time soon.
