SingTel Briefing Prompts Fresh Optus IPO Speculation
July 2010 | IPO AnalysisThe analyst community has revived speculation of a possible near term initial public offering (IPO) of shares in Australian alternative multiplay operator Optus, following the publication by Singapore Telecom (SingTel) - its parent company - of a presentation that compares Optus' market value with the 25 largest companies listed on the Australia Stock Exchange (ASX). Both SingTel and Optus have since said that there are no 'immediate plans' to sell shares in the business, but did tell The Australian Financial Review that they would 'not be averse' to doing so, providing it would add value for the shareholders.
