Marfrig Announces Acquisition As Global Meat Sector Consolidates At Rapid Pace

Brazilian meat producer Marfrig is to acquire Keystone Foods for US$1.26bn. Keystone is the US' largest privately held meat firm and Marfrig said the deal will make it a leading supplier to a number of important companies, including the restaurant operators McDonald's, Subway, Yum Brands and Chipotle and the food producers Campbell's and ConAgra. The deal is Marfrig's second acquisition in the last month and highlights the firm's strategy of international expansion.
