Orascom Aims To Stay In Telecoms Despite Disposals

In a speech in Lebanon, Naguib Sawiris, chairman of Orascom Telecom, has made clear that his company aims to stay in the global telecoms space, despite the potential that much of its assets could be sold to South Africa-based operator MTN or other interested parties in the near future. Sawiris talked of the urgent need to privatise Lebanon's telecoms sector, and also declared an interest in investing in Syria.
