Infrastructure Funds Increase Standing As InfraMed Reaches First Close

The first close for InfraMed Infrastructure indicates that private equity-like infrastructure funds are gaining traction in the domain of multilaterals and national development banks. The fund follows the launch of European Investment Bank (EIB)'s Marguerite infrastructure fund. The flexibility that such a financing vehicle allows could prove to be of great benefit to multilaterals and development banks, which thus far have been limited to traditional development-oriented financing structures.
