Pfizer Sells Swine Vaccine Unit To Harbin Pharma

The world's largest drugmaker Pfizer is selling its swine vaccine business in China to Harbin Pharmaceutical Group for a reported US$50mn, as part of the closing condition on the US$68bn acquisition of Wyeth in January 2009. Harbin Pharmaceutical manufactures and distributes generic antibiotics in China. Pfizer will sell its Chinese animal health operations and the manufacturing of its RespiSure and RespiSure-One swine vaccines in the country to the animal health unit of Harbin Pharmaceuticals, Harbin Bio-Vaccine.
