Weighing Up The Risks Of Britvic's French Acquisition

UK-based soft drink producer Britvic has announced it is to buy French squash and fruit juice producer Fruité Enterprises for EUR237mn. The firm has posted strong results throughout the downturn and in November Britvic revealed it would look to build on this momentum by making strategic acquisitions in new territories. The acquisition is likely to be the prelude to further acquisitions and to this end the firm indicated it would partly fund the deal through a share issue - a move that will give it the financial flexibility to take advantage of other opportunities.
