Walmart Eyeing Russian Retailer

Walmart is believed to be closer to entering Russia after it was reported to be in preliminary negotiations with the mid-tier retailer Lenta. Although a formal negotiation process is not thought to have started, any deal would affirm our view that Walmart probably needs to acquire a major stake in a well-positioned Russian retailer to make expansion into Russia worthwhile.
