High Milk Prices Make Sense Of Danone-Murray Goulburn JV

Improving its ability to cope with what looks set to be another sustained period of high milk prices, while uplifting its domestic competitive position, Australian dairy firm Murray Goulburn Cooperative (MGC) has entered into a joint venture (JV) with French giant Danone. The partnership follows MGC's recent attempts to expand via the acquisition of a stake in rival Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Factory (WCB) and underscores the view of BMI's food & drink team about just how tough an operating environment Australia's dairy industry has become.
