Boehringer Ingelheim Launches Venture Capital Fund

Germany-based drugmaker Boehringer Ingelheim has launched a corporate venture capital fund, the Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund (BIVF), through which it aims to make an initial investment of EUR100mn in biotech and start-up companies. The BIVF's focus of investments will be on programmes and technologies that complement Boehringer's research activities and may include, but not be limited to, new therapeutic concepts, including stem cells and RNA silencing as well as new generation vaccines, new generation protein or antibody technologies, new molecular targets and/or first-in-class lead compounds and disease-related biomarkers.
