Hong Kong Working Within China's Long-Term Yuan Plan

In the face of increasing competition for listings from the mainland, Hong Kong appears to be shifting at least part of its attention away from IPOs and towards China's attempts to internationalise the renminbi. Although the proposed internationalisation of the currency is part of a long term plan for Beijing, the yuan agenda brings with it both threats and opportunities for Hong Kong. As a result, Hong Kong's financial authorities will likely be ambivalent at best towards China pushing the burgeoning renminbi agenda.
