Nestlé Mulls Over Speciality Foods Purchase
December 2009 | Corporate Financing AnalysisThe Indian subsidiary of Swiss food giant Nestlé is considering the acquisition of Indian nutritional food provider Speciality Foods for an undisclosed sum. With revenues of INR288mn (US$6.2mn) for its financial year ending March 2009, Speciality Foods will contribute to Nestlé India's INR44.7bn (US$965.2mn) revenues only marginally. However, the acquisition would be in keeping with the Swiss parent's overarching focus on nutrition and wellness and could help it improve its footprint in these long-term promising categories in India.
