Greentechs Taking Larger Bite Of The VC Pie

Rebounding investment in the 'greentech' industry is seeing emboldened venture capitalists help push investment in the sector slowly back towards its pre-recession highs, with investment returning to US$1.59bn in Q309. This figure is up by more than 10% from the US$1.2bn invested in Q209, according to data from Cleantech Group and Deloite & Touche. Interestingly, at a time when VC investment is at its lowest ebb since 1997, greentech is now claiming a larger percentage of the VC funding pot than ever before - leaping from a 3% niche as at the start of 2004, to 27% at the end of Q309.
