Stock Option Increasingly Favourable In M&A
October 2009 | M&A AnalysisSo far in 2009, 28% of global M&A deals have been completed either using stock in part, or as the sole method of payment. Data from Dealogic shows that this is the highest level of global M&A deals involving stock since 2005, and more poignantly in the US, the highest level (at 45%) for eight years. Interestingly, this is not a trend mutually exclusive to the bidder, as we have also seen a number of high-profile deals involving companies on the target side of the M&A fence voicing a preference for stock over cash.
