Oracle has emerged with a speedy (in comparison with IBM's lengthy due diligence) all cash offer of US$7.4bn for Sun on April 20. The agreed deal, which equates to US$9.50 per share, will transform Oracle into a direct competitor to industry giants such as IBM and Hewlett-Packard.
