Privatisations To Provide Major Opportunities In 2009

The Serbian Ministry of Economy has announced that it expects all privatisations of government-owned companies to be completed in 2009, in news that will please those companies interested in Serbia's fixed-line incumbent, Telecom Srbija. It has been announced in October 2008 that the company's privatisation would take place in 2010, with the delay ascribed to the international financial crisis which would have seen any stake in Telecom Srbije sold for less than the government hoped. As a result, CFW believes that a series of privatisations can now be expected throughout the coming year.
