Though a great deal of activity has occurred of late in emerging Europe's telecommunications market, the ongoing turmoil in financial markets has meant disappointment for those expecting widespread privatisations. On October 28, Telekom Srbija followed in the footsteps of Russia's Svyazinvest, stating that the company would likely shelve its privatisation until 2010.
