Qtel's Actions To Delay Indosat Deal

Qatar Telecom has caused confusion with its October 23 move to lower its offer for Indonesia's second-largest mobile operator, PT Indosat. Without stating a reason, the company, also known as Qtel, has said that it will pay IDR6,416 (US$0.64) a share, down from its original offer of IDR7,388 (US$0.74) apiece it made at the end of June. The change comes as the Indonesian government clarified its position regarding the right for Qtel to raise its shareholding in Indosat to 65%.
