Frucor Acquisiiton To Help Suntory Move Outside Japan.

Japanese food and beverage giant Suntory looks set to land Frucor, the Australia and New Zealand beverage business of French major Danone, having agreed a EUR600mn (US$750.4mn) deal for the unit. Freeing up Danone to focus on its core global health and wellbeing push, the acquisition will also benefit Suntory, allowing it to diversify away from the stagnant and ultra-competitive Japanese marketplace. The agreement marks the conclusion of one phase of what looks set to be an exciting period for the trans-tasman soft drinks sector.
