BBVA's LatAm Expansion Continues

Spanish banking giant Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) confirmed on October 15 that it has sold its Argentine healthcare provider unit, Consolidar Salud, to local health and dental care group OMINT. BBVA said the sale will allow it to focus purely on its existing pension and insurance operations in the country, areas where it already commands a leading share of the market. In Argentina, BBVA already owns one of the nation's largest banks, Banco Francés, and the private pension fund manager Consolidar AFJP. It also has interests in insurance companies throughout the property & casualty, retirement and workers' compensation sectors.
