Planned Port Privatisation
October 2008 | Privatisation News AlertThe Port Authority of Panama (AMP) has launched a programme to privatise three inland ports. The ports are Almirante port, in Bocas del Toro province; Armuelles port, in Chiriquí province; and Mesabé port in Los Santos province. The news comes as a US$5mn government package is allocated to improve docks and piers at 13 ports across the country. It is concurrent with other developments in Panama's maritime industry, most significantly the US$5.2bn expansion of the Panama Canal.
