McAfee Secures US$465mn Acquisition

The relatively frenetic pace of M&A activity in the IT industry continues this week, as security software specialists McAfee picks up Secure Computing (Secure) for US$465mn in cash. McAfee is the world's number two producer of anti-virus software, after market leader Symantec, and alongside Trend Micro is one of the nation's largest security firms. The acquisition will give it access to a broad portfolio of software, services and computer hardware, all designed to establish intruder-proof security systems for computers and computer networks.
