Airline M&A To Soar

So far this year, 25 airlines have collapsed and airline M&A has totalled US$13.3bn, according to Dealogic. Both numbers look set to increase with the US$3.1bn potential merger between Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines being just the tip of the iceberg. European airlines are no exception. British Airways (BA) and Iberia may be taking the spotlight with the July 29 announcement of merger talks, which would create Europe's largest airline and mount a considerable challenge to Air France-KLM and Lufthansa, but a number of Europe's other airlines are also making news.
