KKR Gamble On IPO
August 2008 | Top StoriesPrivate Equity giant Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) has announced plans to brave the turbulence in the equity markets and list on the New York Stock Exchange, in a move that could value the company somehwere between US$12 - US$16bn. KKR will buy its own publicly-listed Amsterdam investment fund, delist it from Amsterdam and relist the new company in New York. After the private equity boom of recent years, companies have faced a drought of leveraged buyouts, as the credit crunch choked off the cheap financing that makes such deals possible.
