Arcapita And Tanti's US$2bn Wind Farm Deal
July 2008 | M&A News AlertEach week brings further evidence of the extent to which high oil prices are driving corporate activity around the world, and this time it is the Chinese alternative energy sector that is witnessing a boom. On July 9, Bahraini Islamic investment firm Arcapita announced a joint venture with India's Tanti Group to buy Honiton Energy, creating a US$2bn wind farm business in China. The investment will be routed through Colossus Holdings, a Singapore-based special purpose vehicle owned by the Tanti Group, which also own Suzlon, Asia's largest manufacturer of wind turbines. Colossus will end up with 26% of Honiton, China's fastest growing alternative energy provider, with the remaining 74% going to Arcapita.
