July 2008 | IPO News AlertLiquidnet, a New York-based electronic marketplace, has submitted a filing with the US Securities Exchange Commission to raise as much as US$500mn in an IPO. Liquidnet is a leading dark pool broker that trades in 29 countries worldwide. Dark pool brokers allow institutional buyers and sellers of large blocks of equity securities to trade with each other anonymously. This method of trading, which allows traders to exchange stock without the risk of moving the public price of the stock on an exchange, has become a threat to exchanges which do not offer the same service.
