Turkey's Power Grid Privatisation
July 2008 | Privatisation News AlertThe winning bidders for the privatisation of two of Turkey's power grids were announced on July 1. A consortium of Turkey's Akenerji and Czech CEZ made the top bid of US$600mn for the Sedas grid in Sakarya, while Turkey's Sabanci Holdings with Austria's Verbund won the auction for the Bedas grid in Ankara with a US$1.2bn bid. The two consortiums bid for both grids, in a battle which did not attract as many foreign investors as was originally expected.
