Dubai World & Roskommunenergo Bid US$5.3bn For Russian Power Producer

On June 30 the United Arab Emirates' Dubai World and Russia's Roskummunenergo jointly bid US$5.34bn for OGK-1. The company is the last of Russia's wholesale power producers for sale out of the 28 power companies which were formed from the privatisation of Unified Energy System. UES, which was formed in the early 1990s, will cease to exist on July 1 as part of Russia's energy sector reform.
