Austria's OMV And Hungary's MOL Takeover: The Investigation Continues…

European Union officials have relaunched investigations into the takeover approach by Austria's OMV for Hungary's MOL, two of Europe's major oil and gas companies. OMV's takeover intentions were made known in 2007, and despite a unanimous rejection from the MOL's board on July 16 2007, OMV is still attempting to gain control of its Hungarian peer. The takeover approach, as well as Hungary's and MOL's reaction to the approach, is under investigation by EU authorities.
