China's Securities Sector Open to Private Equity

Deputy Director of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) confirmed March 6 that any foreign firm can enter into a joint venture with Chinese securities houses and fund managers. Ouyang Zehua corrected the report last week that only firms with brokerages were permitted to buy into Chinese securities houses. However, the size of their equity stakes will be limited.
