Struggling Freescale Picks Up Sigmatel
February 2008 | Top StoriesFreescale Semiconductor, the semiconductor and embedded chip manufacturer that was taken private by a private equity consortium for $17.6 billion, has inked a deal to acquire SigmaTel a maker of mixed-signal integrated circuits for the consumer electronics market. The deal is valued at approximately $110 million in cash, with SigmaTel stockholders set to receive $3 per share, representing a 67% premium over the stock's relevant closing price.
