Bain Closes $20 Billion Buyout Fund

The slowdown in buyout activity is off the agenda for Bain Capital, which has just closed a $20 billion global buyout fund. Bain, the firm of which former Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is a former vice president and co-founder, says it encountered little difficulty raising the cash, with investor demand for stakes in buyout funds growing as signs of an economic weakening proliferate.
