Deal Revived: Sprint And Clearwire Now Seeking Funding

In the last few days, rumours have been flying that cellular operator Sprint Nextel and Wireless Internet provider Clearwire have resurrected talks to combine their high-speed wireless WiMax networks, after a deal over a cost-sharing partnership was scrapped last November. Last year's deal—inked in July and ripped up in November—suffered partly due to the fact that Sprint was operating without a CEO at the time and was thus reluctant to make any major moves. However, this time things could be different as newly installed Chief Executive Dan Hesse has moved quickly to impress investors with layoffs and an upper-management shake-up at the wireless carrier.
