Altech Mulls Exit From Underperforming West African Operations

South Africa-based IT and telecoms infrastructure firm Altech plans to divest its unprofitable West African operations following unsatisfactory bottom-line figures in the group's results for the financial year ended February 29 2012. The firm attributed its weak operating profits to 'tough trading' conditions in West and East Africa, but remains optimistic about improvements to its East Africa operations in the future. Altech has a well-diversified portfolio of services and has been expanding its footprint rapidly with a string of local and international acquisitions.
