China Three Gorges Wins Coveted Stake In EDP

State-owned China Three Gorges Corporation won a coveted stake in Energias de Portugal (EDP) in December 2011, outbidding European and international heavyweights. Despite challenging conditions in its domestic market, EDP's strong position in the renewable energy sector, as well as in key emerging markets such as Brazil, made the company a highly attractive investment for China Three Gorges, which aims to boost its international presence.
