Private Equity Continues To Be Attracted To Unfashionable Food Sectors

Two newly announced deals have again highlighted private equity (PE)'s attraction to relatively unfashionable parts of the food sector. In the US PE firm Centre Partners announced the acquisition of frozen food manufacturer Bellisio Foods while in Europe PE firm Manfield Partners announced the acquisition of two canned food units from Japanese conglomerate Mitsui & Co.
